דמיינו לעצמכם אירוע להנצחת השואה שייערך על ידי משפחות בקהילות בעולם, באותה עת, תוך שהן מתקשרות ביניהן או ליין באמצעות מסכים, במתכונת המזכירה את סדר פסח. במהלך האירוע משתתפים יגלמו דמויות שדבריהם נשזרו על בסיס מסמכים ועדויות אמתיים, הם יחוו את העדויות, יעיינו גם במסמכים אמתיים, ינתחו בצוותא ציורים שהותירו אמנים, יגיבו וישאלו את השאלות הקשות.
הכל כתוב בטקסט בספרון הטקס "אופרה לטרזין" מאת ליליאן אטלן, ז"ל, מחזאית ומשוררת צרפתייה שיצירתה הוקדשה להנצחת עדות השואה (www.lilianeatlan.com). היא ראתה באמנות כלי המאפשר להעביר לעולם את הזוועה באופן שניתן להכיל אותה, "באופן שנזכור ובכל זאת נוכל להמשיך לחיות".
האירוע מתמקד בגטו טרזיינשטאט, משום שהיה "רק שערי הגיהינום" ודרכו ניתן לחדור לזוועת השואה בכללותה בלי להיבלע על ידה, בעזרת המוזיקאים שאומנותם הייתה התנגדותם.
חיוני ודחוף לייצר אירוע שכזה על רקע היעלמות העדים הישירים, ניצולי המחנות, נושאי הזיכרון. האימפקט הרגשי והחינוכי של השתתפות באירוע האופרה של ליליאן אטלן עשוי למלא את החסר בהיעדרם.
בחזונה של ליליאן אטלן וביצירתה בכללותה, זיכרון השואה נושא מסר אוניברסלי. טקס האופרה לטרזין, המשלב אומנות ואמת היסטורית, סיפור ושאלות, הפעלת מרב החושים – מתאים להנצחת כל אירוע היסטורי טרגי שאנו רוצים לזכור אותו מבלי לאבד את אהבת האדם.
צפייה בקריאה המבוימת של האופרה לטרזין, בשיתוף שלוש קהילות בשלוש שפות (ישראל, צרפת, ארה"ב), באמצעות ה"זום", בסיוע במאים ושחקנים מקצועיים, ממחישה את ההיתכנות ואת העוצמה של החזון של ליליאן אטלן – מיסוד האירוע/טקס והטמעתו במסורת העם.

Watch the Play An Opera for Terezin
Just imagine a ceremony for the commemoration of the Holocaust celebrated in families, at home, simultaneously with other families from all over the world, communicating with interactive video technology (such as Zoom). The structure of the ceremony reminds the Passover Seder, the rite of remembrance of the Hebrews’ historic liberation from slavery in Egypt. During this event the participants will embody characters whose texts and roles have been shaped on the basis of real documents, they will relive real testimonies, they will observe and reflect together upon actual drawings left by artists who did not survive, and they will discuss the most difficult questions.
Everything is written in the libretto of “An Opera for Terezin”, by the late Liliane Atlan, a French play writer and poet, who dedicated most of her work to the remembrance of the holocaust (www.lilianeatlan.com). She saw art as an influential tool to transmit the world's horror "in a way one can remember but yet continue to live".
The ceremony focuses on Ghetto Theresienstadt, because it was “only the gate of hell” that enables us to face the horror of the Holocaust without being overwhelmed, through the Ghetto musicians whose art was their resistance.
It is vital and urgent to create events such as Liliane Atlan’s Opera, as the survivors of the deportation camps, the primary witnesses and beholders of the remembrance – are disappearing. This Opera's emotional and educational impact can make the difference.
Watching the staged reading of the Opera for Terezin, connecting by Zoom professional directors and actors from Israel, France, and USA, demonstrates the feasibility and the potential impact of Liliane Atlan’s vision of the Opera – the establishment of the rite of the Opera for Terezin and its inclusion in popular tradition.

Imaginez un évènement pour la commémoration de l’Holocauste célébré en familles à la maison, en simultané avec d’autres familles dans le monde, communicant par télécommunication interactive (par ex. Zoom). Sa structure rappelle celle du Seder de Pessah, le rite de commémoration historique de la sortie d’Egypte des Hébreux. Pendant cet évènement, les participants vont interpréter des personnages dont les textes et rôles ont été constitués à partir de documents authentiques, ils revivront des témoignages originaux, ils contempleront et interpréteront ensembles des dessins originaux laissés par leurs peintres qui n’ont pas survécu, et ils répondront aux questions difficiles.
Tous les détails sont inscrits dans le livret de "Un Opéra pour Térézin" de Liliane Atlan, auteur dramatique et poète Juive Française, dont l’œuvre fut consacrée à la mémoire de la Shoah (www.lilianeatlan.com). Elle voyait en l'art un moyen de transmission au monde de son horreur, "de telle sorte que l'on puisse à la fois s'en souvenir, et vivre."
L'évènement se concentre sur le ghetto de Theresienstadt car ce n’était "que les portes de l’enfer", par lesquelles la Shoah peut être perçue et ressentie dans toute son horreur sans qu'elle nous étouffe, par l’intermédiaire des musiciens qui y vivaient et dont leur musique fut leur résistance.
Il est vital et urgent de créer un tel évènement. Les témoins, les déportés, sont en voie de disparition. L'impact émotionnel et éducatif de la participation à l'Opéra d'Atlan peut remplir ce vide.
Pour Atlan la mémoire de l'Holocauste porte un message universel. La cérémonie de l'Opéra de Terezin, qui combine l'art et la vérité historique, le conte et les questions, l'activation du maximum des sens – convient pour commémorer tout événement historique tragique dont nous voulons nous souvenir sans perdre l'amour de l'homme.
La lecture de l’Opéra, par Zoom, avec la participation simultanée de metteurs en scène et de comédiens professionnels en Israël, en France et aux USA, démontre la force et la faisabilité de la vision de Liliane Atlan – d’institutionnaliser l’Opéra d’Atlan dans la tradition de la commémoration de la Schoah.
