At the center is Egon Redlich, Head of the ghetto’s Youth Welfare Office, who perished in Auschwitz in 1944.
The Educational Center at Beit Theresienstadt holds study days and seminars for school children, soldiers, and adults throughout the year. The programs are adjusted by the age of the participants and they include inquiry-based activities and work with primary historical sources: journals, drawings, and others.
The educational programs address the story of the Theresienstadt ghetto from different points of view, in accordance with the age of the participants and the duration of the study day. Schools can choose from among an array of educational programs and workshops. The story of the ghetto facilitates discussions on many topics, including the role and functioning of the Jewish leadership, children and youth in the ghetto, dilemmas encountered in the daily life of the ghetto’s inmates, spiritual resistance in the ghetto, cultural activities and their significance, and others.
