“And the boy dreamed of a different world” – The world of the children and youth in Ghetto Theresienstadt
2019
Curator: Dr. Tereza Maizels, Noa David
The family unit was dissolved following the German order to separate the residences of men and boys over 12 from those of women and children.
Educators in the Youth Department (Jugendforsorge) tried to form an educational setting for the children to provide support and protection from the terrible conditions in the ghetto.
The counselors and educators accompanied the children day and night and cared for them physically and mentally, trying to teach them personal responsibility, a life of cooperation, and humanist values, all while under inhumane conditions, imprisoned within the ghetto walls.
The exhibition displays works created by children and youth in Ghetto Theresienstadt.
The exhibition includes 13 half-sheet-sized PVC panels, suitable for display on easels.
Exhibition fee: 1,500 NIS.
The exhibition is also available in a digital format.
