Art and medicine in the Theresienstadt ghetto

2001
Curator: Dr. Tommy Spenser

The drawings in the exhibition are only some of the many drawings created by doctors and nurses, as well as by other artists who drew doctors’ portraits and various drawings of healthcare services at Ghetto Theresienstadt. The purpose of the exhibit is to express respect and appreciation for the hundreds of doctors who practiced medicine in such harsh circumstances. Most were subsequently deported from Ghetto Theresienstadt to the concentration camps in the east, where they were murdered.
