The Beit Theresienstadt Courtyard

Beit Theresienstadt is located at the heart of Kibbutz Givat Haim Ihud. Centered around a small courtyard are the museum’s exhibitions, archives, and offices. The building housing the historical exhibition is architecturally unique. Built in the early 1970s, it was designed by architect Albin Glaser, a survivor of the ghetto.

Encounter of Survivors

In September 2022, an encounter was held at Beit Theresienstadt for survivors of the ghetto. Former inmates arrived from all over the country for this heartfelt encounter. Riveting conversations took place around the tables, giving voice to memories and stories from the Holocaust period and otherwise.

Class Activity

Students engaged in an activity at the exhibition “Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano”.

Laying the Cornerstone

On September 29, 1969, the cornerstone of Beit Theresienstadt was laid in a festive ceremony, in the presence of members of the association and other honored guests. The foundation scroll signed by the founders was also placed in the ground, together with the cornerstone.

Request a Relative Search

The staff of the Beit Theresienstadt archive specializes in searching for relatives, based on an index containing names of the ghetto inmates that is crossed with other sources. In recent years several touching stories have emerged, as well as meetings between relatives who had previously been unaware of each other’s existence.
