Programs for Elementary Schools

The Educational Center offers activities for sixth grade students, centering on the ghetto’s children and youth. Most children aged 12-16 at the ghetto lived in children’s dorms, separated from their parents. Splitting up the families required a transition to a different way of life and manifestations of independence and maturity. The program “Growing up in Ghetto Theresienstadt” examines the different relationships between parents and children and among the children themselves and explores the meaning of growing up in these circumstances.
