Author: Youth from the L414 children’s dorms Published by: Beit Theresienstadt – Theresienstadt Martyrs Remembrance Association, Givat Haim Ihud (2017) Editor: Tami Kinberg Translation: Rachel Ben Zvi
In 1943, boys and girls living in the L414 German speaking youth bloc produced a book of essays that included 14 essays and was bound in leather. In the book, the young people wrote of life in the dorms, living together, and their longing for past days. The essays were typed on a typewriter in the ghetto and illustrated by Jewish-Dutch artist Jo Spier, a prisoner in the ghetto. The essays appear in the book in their original language, German, beside a translation into Hebrew.
